PE Pipe, ensuring product meets its mechanical design capabilities. Tests are conducted by an accredited laboratory against stringent national and or international standards. Many larger manufacturers will have their own accredited testing laboratory. These tests are: 1. Visual Appearance 2. Dimensional 3. Density 4. Longitudinal 5. Elongation at Break 6. Carbon Black Content 7. Oxidation Induction Time 8. Hydrostatic Tank shown, is used for Hydrostatic testing. The testing regime is generally divided into two categories: · Short-term hydrostatic test. Under increasing pressure, 60 to 70 seconds, sample behaviour is determined under hydrostatic pressure. · Long-term hydrostatic test. Simulates the life span of pipe in a shorter time. Samples are placed under constant pressure at 20 ° C for 100 hours or 80 ° C for 165 hours. Other tests, subjecting samples to different hoop stresses with results of times to failure plotted over a range of time up to 10,000 hours.
