Over 783 million people worldwide do not have access to clean water. As a result, of this, more than 6 million people die annually. My design, the Peacock Purifier will help to provide clean water in an easy, accessible way to those who are less fortunate. By simply pouring dirty water into the pitcher, the water will filter through the many mesh layers of patterns. The patterns that make up the design of a peacock, serves as a filtration device. There are many layers to ensure that the water will be thoroughly filtered. The Peacock Purifier not only filters water, it also raises awareness on an endangered species, the peacock. By using this purifier you will be reminded of this majestic creature. In Indian culture, the peacock symbolizes joy. So, whoever uses the Peacock Purifier will be brought joy. This device would be printed out of copper using an SLA printer. Copper was used as containers for water storage in India.It killed unwanted bacteria and added natural minerals to the water. In the future I imagine this design to have finer filtering dishes for extreme water conditions. If the ancient people used this method of water filtration, why can’t we? Kennedy Middle School
