This project consists of a marker holder designed to be mounted on the X-carriage of an Ender 3 V1 3D printer, enabling the machine to operate as a 2-axis plotting device for drawing, PCB trace layout, and general G-code based marking applications. The design integrates two main functional sections: a cylindrical split clamp for holding the marker body and a structural mounting arm that interfaces with the printer’s X-axis carriage. The split clamp allows the marker to be secured using a fastener while accommodating small variations in marker body diameter. The model was developed in SolidWorks as a single part file using a multi-body approach, where the geometry is divided into two solid bodies, each corresponding to a functional section of the design: Marker split clamp X-carriage mounting structure This multi-body modeling approach allows independent modification of each section while maintaining a single part file, simplifying assembly integration and dimensional adjustments. The holder is designed for markers with a body diameter of approximately 11.25 mm, compatible with standard fine-point permanent markers. The design focuses on structural simplicity, low part count, and direct integration with the Ender 3 V1 X-carriage mounting interface.
