Piston of a Petrol Engine · 模型 70166

作者:Harsha Vardhana

The piston is a cylindrical component that moves up and down inside the cylinder of a petrol engine. It is connected to the crankshaft through a connecting rod and plays a key role in converting the energy produced by fuel combustion into mechanical work. During engine operation, the piston draws in the air–fuel mixture, compresses it, and then receives the force generated by combustion. This force pushes the piston downward, causing the crankshaft to rotate. Piston rings fitted around the piston help seal the combustion chamber, reduce friction, and control the flow of lubricating oil along the cylinder walls. The piston is usually made of aluminum alloy to ensure light weight, strength, and efficient heat dissipation.
