Jeep is an American car manufacturer belonging to the Fiat group since 2010, which became Stellantis1,2 in 2021 following the merger of the Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles and PSA groups. Originally, Jeep cars were four-wheel-drive off-road vehicles used by the United States military during World War II. Their popularity has meant that the rustic-style off-road vehicle is still referred to today by the word “jeep”. Jeep started producing vehicles for the civilian market in 1945. In 2017, Jeep sold 1.4 million SUVs for the year 2016, an increase of 500,000 vehicles compared to 2008, 2/3 for the North American market.
