A CAD model of induction motor . An induction motor is a type of electric motor that operates on the principle of electromagnetic induction. It consists of two main parts: the stator (the stationary part) and the rotor (the rotating part). When alternating current (AC) is supplied to the stator, it creates a rotating magnetic field. This magnetic field induces a current in the rotor, which in turn generates its own magnetic field. The interaction between the stator’s magnetic field and the rotor’s magnetic field causes the rotor to spin, producing mechanical motion. Unlike other motors, the rotor of an induction motor does not need to be directly connected to an external power source, making it more robust, simpler, and low-maintenance. Induction motors are widely used in industries due to their durability and efficiency, powering devices like fans, pumps, and conveyor systems
