This is a formula one rear wing with modified leading edge. Dimensions on which I performed the CFD analysis were 720 mm span and 260 mm chord length. The scaled down versions have 250 mm span (uploaded). Started with 17 mm (6.54% of chord length) tubercle amplitude and finished at 100 mm (38.46 % of chord length). For wavelength, I started at 72 mm (10 % of span) and finished at 24 mm (3.33 % of span). The meshes had ~300,000 cells with more cell concentration near the geometry. Using this mesh settings and 0 degree AOA and 25 m/s velocity, I ran 28 different scenarios, I gathered larger amplitude and smaller wavelength configurations were better; more aerodynamically efficient. Based on the configuration that produced the least drag force, I selected 100 mm amplitude and 48 mm wavelength. Then I refined the mesh, to ~700,000 cells, and ran the analysis again on the selected configuration. The results show a promising 15.28 % increase in down force, and a 15.61 % increase in the down force to drag ratio. The modified wing is 20.57 % lighter than the base line model. Then I performed a static linear FEA on the wing, using the flow fields (fluid pressure and fluid shear stress) obtained from the CFD analysis. The mesh had 210,265 nodes, the results were promising, FOS was ~16 for the modified wing. I have no access to a 3D printer, my engineering judgment says these wings must be printable without any problems, after being rotated at 90 degrees around z-axis (based on the SolidWorks co-ordinate system).
