"Reasonably sized cylindrical mesh", V3 · 模型 279830
This is my attempt at making a cylindrical mesh which has a reasonable file size, for objects that have this as an appearance. (Like flex connectors) My goal is to make it as a series of surfaces, rather than solids. I first made a 3d equation sketch, and saved it as a part. Then I imported it into an assembly, rotated it, and saved it as a strip with two lines around a circle. Next I imported the assembly as a derive into a part, and completed the sketch to make it a boundary loop so I could make it as a surface. Finally I imported that part into another assembly. This recursive design allowed me to make tweaks to the original 3D sketch and have it propagate to the entire final assembly. If you want to make edits, feel free. The equation and parameters have to be tweaked in order to make the weaves "nice", and allow for a true weave with no interfering faces (as you can see in this version). **** In order to make edits, you have to download all files, minus the images. **** If anyone can assist in this, I would be greatly appreciative. EDIT V2: The problem lies in the 3D curve geometry, how it is placed, the amplitude, number of repetitions, and arc length between the copies of the 3D sketch. I have finally made it so that the curves don't overlap, but I'm still not completely happy with the results. It needs more tweaking and experimenting, but I'm getting close. EDIT V3: The model parameters just need tweaking now, and it'll be perfect.
