Most widely used in the machine tool called as "Lathe". The turning operations can cause wobbling of the workpiece and result in an inaccurate geometry if the workpiece is long (due to high bending forces). Revolving center helps hold the free end of the workpiece in order to provide stability to the machining process. It is called as Revolving Center because it rotates along with the workpiece about the job axis due to friction as it is hooked to the work piece at the center because of friction.
