S&A device uses a mechanical interlock system in this case 3d printed card with ring. The red card (acting as a physical insulator) is inserted between the two nickel plates. This prevents electrical contact between the plates. The device is electrically open or isolated, preventing the detonation circuit from being completed. No explosion can occur accidentally.
