New SATA 3.5 drives are 20 mm thick and old NAS enclosures expect 1 inch thick, so this bracket is double taped to the top cover of the SATA 3.5 20 mm thick and allows it to go into a SATA drive 1 inch thick slot. This is especially relevant for NAS enclosures that do not have caddies where the thin SATA 3.5 that are 20 mm thick would float laterally. The model includes the original Topsolid parametric design.
