Scara Robot Design · 模型 262682
Led a undergrade project focused on the design, manufacture, and testing of an affordable SCARA robot. This robot, characterized by its parallel actuation, 3 Degrees of Freedom (DOF) for planar motion, and a position-controlled pneumatic gripper for variable height, is targeted for both industrial and educational applications. Past attempts in this area, though ambitious, have often fallen short due to being overly niche, prohibitively expensive, or not meeting the quality standards required by users. My approach seeks to address these challenges by: Utilizing semi-mainstream components such as actuators, bearings, drivers, controllers, and materials. Employing a mix of manufacturing techniques like 2D CNC machining and FDM 3D printing with high-strength materials such as nylon. Adopting an innovative design approach involving the formation of 3D geometries through the assembly of 2D plates. My objective is to develop a model that is both detailed enough for junior engineers to comprehend and sophisticated enough to contribute significantly to the field. The current phase involves: Completing the conceptualization of the robot's dynamics and finalizing designs for key mechanisms. Extensive review and analysis of relevant literature and research on SCARA robot design, dual-kinematics, optimization, and motion theory. Conducting stress-strain simulations to validate the structural integrity of the design. Future work includes computing direct and inverse kinematics, analyzing statics and dynamics of the assemblies, developing software control systems, and assembling and testing a prototype. This project not only aims to bridge the gap between academic theory and practical application but also to provide a valuable resource for both novices and experts in robotics.
