Single print, spinning planetary gear lapel pin · 模型 258810
This design is intended to take advantage of additive manufacturing by printing the pin already assembled. Twisting the outside of the pin will cause the front face to spin in the opposite direction by way of a planetary gear system on the inside. All pieces have been modeled with a tolerance of at least 100 microns to avoid being printed as a single object. Two slots have been modeled on the back were blank, 1/2'' square lapel pins can be inserted, and glued if necessary, to affix the pin. Two pins are used to hold the back still as it is being spun. Graphite powder between joints, possibly inserted as the model is still printing, will probably help it to spin freely. I do not have a 3d printer to test the design with, so it will likely require some tweaking and clever use of thin, easily breakable supports to print properly.
