This project presents the CAD design and fabricated prototype of a single-shell-pass, single-tube-pass shell-and-tube heat exchanger, developed as part of the Heat and Equipment Design Sessional course. The prototype was developed through a complete engineering workflow, including thermal and hydraulic calculations, CAD modeling, mechanical design, fabrication, and experimental testing. The design was initially analyzed using hand calculations and Excel-based calculations, followed by validation using HTRI analysis. Prototype Specifications Tube Number - 21 Tube Pass - 1 Tube ID - 17 mm Tube OD - 20.5 mm Tube Pitch Ratio - 1.2 Shell Diameter - 104 mm Shell Length - 609.6 mm Baffle Cut Height - 26% Baffle Spacing - 203.2 mm Cross Flow - 3 After fabrication, the heat exchanger was tested in the laboratory to evaluate its thermal performance. The prototype achieved a heat transfer rate of approximately 664 W under the tested operating conditions.
