A skyscraper tower that I designed using Autodesk 360. A block structure, I use alternating triangles and cantilever beams to create the effect as seen. All structural supports are out of the way, tucked into the corresponding edges. The center holds 4 full-size cylindrical elevators, with a structural support beam at its center. Each floor can hold 20 average size apartments. My reasons for creating this are below the specs. Specs for 'real' structure Hight - 837 ft, 7.18 in (about 60% of the height of the Empire State) 70 stories w/ lobby 72 w/out lobby about 11 ft 'headroom' per story Avg Floor space (includes rooftop overlook) - 20300 ft^2 105.85 in^2 Specs for challenge The 3-D model is constrained to 120.65mm. The height of mine is 119.371 mm, below the restriction. Inspiration To me, the 'why' is always difficult to put into words. But for me, my inspiration here was to show there is elegance in all. This building, which embodies the humanity in all of us, shows the beauty of consistency, and (and what may seem like a paradox) how something seemingly chaotic is also beautiful in its own way. And that is my inspiration. Us all. The humanity, in all of us. The dark, the light, the flow and swells of us. Once more, that is my inspiration. Meaning To me, the meaning of this was to create something beautiful and iconic, something sturdy and solid. This design embodies both mine and your future (at least to me). It shows the elegance and flow of time (embodied by the tower reaching higher), the consistencies in our lives(the constant and elegant cantilever beams that envelop the structure), and the dark, shifting color of our lives( the dark glass the shelters the structure). Impact The impact and intention of which I designed the building are to... be a thing of realistic and representative beauty. The way it flows upward, in its attempt to reach the sky, reveals our progression towards our goals and aspirations. The straight, sharp edges also seem to flow together and stretch to fill your view and encompass you. They are there to show us that even the most precise, exact, and firm paths in which we direct our lives, may very well be things of beauty that we don't register in our often hectic and crowded lives. The last representation that I have made thus far are the cantilevering beams that cut through the windows.
