From 3DS Max to SolidWorks – Snowmobile Frame Tutorial This tutorial is about how to create parametric CAD model from 3DS Max STL file. The example model is snowmobile frame. Full tutorial consists from four parts. First part is about how to align STL file in Geomagic Design X correctly after 3DS Max export/import; how to make a region segments. Also, you could watch issues in mesh after importing. All those issues I will fix in the second part. Part 1 - https://youtu.be/VROt9A04CPQ Second part is about how to fix low poly (bad STL) and make mesh fine in quality and optimized in sizes. All those operations was make in Geomagic Design X. I will also show you how to use “Sweep Wizard” operation for extracting surface geometry of complex 3D tubes. Part 2 - https://youtu.be/QkI5MTnDITQ Third part is about refining of extracted tube surfaces from Geomagic. I use SolidWorks for that refining. Refining – I mean about good (correct) quality shapes of tubes with correct cross-sections and path. You will learn how to use 3D sketches in SolidWorks, projection 3D curves from 2D sketches.
