Being a female runner, it can be difficult to find a good means of self defense. Pepper spray, for instance, is a good means of defense, but it will only be effective when the person is a yard away. It can work if an attacker is at close range, but then there is a risk of getting pepper spray one’s own eyes because of weather factors and the physical struggle that ensues during an attack. For close range, some runners run with a key in between their fingers. With a protrusion, one could defend oneself from an attacker and do some real damage. With this, design, a runner can have a means of self defense without worrying about it slipping off or through her fingers in her time of need.
