Spiroid gears are also known as Worm Face or SPIRSIN are used for higher torque and higher driving efficiency as an alternative to worm gears. Used in actuators because of the option to reduce backlash to 0 by moving the worm along its axis. Spiroid worm tooth surface is helical involute with different pressure angles on the drive and cost sides. Drive side is normally low pressure angle like 10 degrees and the coast side is high pressure angle like 30 degrees. Because of the involute tooth geometry the worm thread can be modeled using common CAD helix tools with some calculation of correct parameters. See SolidWorks worm model. The gear tooth surface needs to be calculated with special software. This model is done for a customer in Spain who needed to make a replacement gear set.
