The task of self-education: the study of reverse engineering software. I used a different software. The first task: choosing the optimal tool to automatically convert the point cloud into a surface. At this stage were eliminated from the competition: Tsplines for Rhino - very large file (406 mb), Geomagic Design X - poor surface quality. The second phase: rebuilding a solid model with history. It must be ensured to match the native format of Solidworks (or Inventor or Creo). To solve this problem, I used Delcam Power Sharpe (in my opinion does not fit) and Geomagic Design X. Make a solid model is relatively easy, it is much more difficult to transfer to the native formats of solid-state programs (history of constructing). The transformation is accompanied by a variety of errors, after which the process stops. I was able to implement the conversion in the format of Autodesk Inventor (relatively easily) and SolidWorks. I have converted the model into a SolidWorks format only by non-trivial way and with insufficient quality. Conversion to Creo Parametric stops at the beginning. Conclusion: Reverse Engineering requires specific skills and time-consuming. This is an area of professional paid works.
