Welcome to my design:-) As a keen gym user I hoped I could bring a different approach to this challenge. This is a unique design and the only and first one like it. My concept was developed from my experience in the gym of struggling to find a bench when needed. This led me to think of ways to develop an attachment that only needed the "attachment" to perform the exercise. The idea is that the user positions the attachment as normal and then holds the handles and rotates upwards to a flat horizontal position-thus eliminating the need to hold or rest on a gym bench. The long box section promotes good form as it prevents the user for arching there back whilst performing the calf raise. I have tried to use common items, materials and sizes with my design, to help keep the costs low and the need for unique parts to a minimum. Box-section-Aluminium or steel Cushion -leather and foam Handles-Aluminium (6082) with foam Spring handle-Metal with standard springs inside Pop rivets x 8 Stainless bolts x 2 Self tapping screws- x 4 (with plastic head caps) Sliding latch-Steel (black anodised finish) Split clamp-Steel Clamp lining- Rubber Standard pin and pin fastener Cushion top plate welded to angled side struts Technical drawings have now been uploaded. I'm having problems with the stress analysis....it does not like the fact I have modelled some of the file in solidworks and some in Vero Any questions or feedback welcome.
