When I was in cub scouts back in the 80s, we taped a 12g CO2 cartridge to a straw on some string making a "CO2 rocket". A kid used a hammer and a nail to punch a hole in the end. It took a few tries, but I will never forget how hard the cartridge hit the board at the end! As part of my latest YT video, I decided to model and 3D print a Starship version for my kids to try with the added bonus of a pilot hole for the nail. It was still challenging to hold the rocket and punch the hole, but eventually we got it to work. I drilled a hole in a couple of boards and tied construction string around a twig in the back. Naturally we screwed the receiving end to a tree so nobody could get hit. My daughter pointed out we should have positioned the straw so it didn't go past the nose of the rocket so the straw doesn't get damaged.
