The flywheel of a STHIL 039 Chainsaw. This is a simple model, though the fact that it's a cast part does make it more interesting to work with.. well mostly in that its harder to measure properly. It's also nonetheless interesting how complicated the part is, and yet it still has the necessary construction to allow for removing the original core from the sand, as well as keeping the wall thickness constant wherever possible. I'd be really interested to learn how the two housings for the magnets are made in the original mold so that the part doesn't cave in, or caves in at just the right spots to mill out later. It's also just possible the magnets are pre-placed before the cast, as I'm fairly certain this is an aluminum part. And that still doesn't explain the side without magnets. Feel free to use this model in any of your own projects, but please make sure to give credit ^^
