This tail hook is for mounting on the tail end of an aircraft for security while hand propping the engine. Rope used for releasing the latch from the cockpit. Rubber bumper is adjusted too achieve a 40 Lb pull on the release rope. This glider tow plane release is copied from a design that has been around for 50 years.
