Eventually we had choose an idea which is pretty intriguing! This system would collect moon regolith by simple principles which consists of rotational movement of the main barrel with pressure applied from the top, this would ensure that the system is collecting samples up to 10 cm deep and more; The main components of the system are: 1) Inner filter (cylinder) 2) outside cage 3) the scoop; Inner filter would ensure collection of small particles of moon regolith, moon surface is covered in very fine regolith (dust, almost like a flour) by this means, that by 24 hours, the filter will collect considerable amount of moon regolith; Outside cage would ensure and collect small rocks in 1-2 cm diameter, the slots are made with the idea that stone could enter inside with some pressure and then will not able to escape, bigger stones just will follow the rotational movement; The scoop has 2 roles, first is following: when system is not operating the scoop ensures that samples inside are secure; second role of the scoop is next: when system is operating, the scoop is rotated 180 degree and ensures rocks are pushed (which could be stuck in slots) inside the cage; Essentially the scoop would a lift off the surface and anti-clockwise rotation of the barrel against a fixed brush/guard on the front top be useful for clearing/cleaning any stones that have become stuck/wedged in the slots. Just a way of maintaining and safeguarding the mining wheel.
