With the help of Cooper Union and the company Eye 2021, four high school students from the tri-state area collaborated on a project to assist the visually impaired. This device, consisting of two main 3-D printed half cases and cones, uses ultrasonic sensor technology to determine one's proximity to an object and reports this data to the user through a series of clicks. The sensors slide into the holes located in the cases, and with the help of the 3-D printed cones, which narrow the field of vision of each individual sensor, report an accurate distance reading. This product was deigned to fasten on to any ordinary flat brimmed cap and provide a 135 degree field of vision.
