The Water Consuming Bridge · 模型 92873
One of the most important preconditions for the functioning of a bridge is the fast drainage of rainwater and snow while leaving oncoming traffic undisturbed. However, to this day, we are unable to achieve both efficiency and effectiveness in this matter. The Water Consuming Bridge allows quick drainage of water through the use of permeable concrete and waterproof sheeting. The absorbed rainwater is then reused to maintain green walls around the bridge. Benefits: - Reduces the use of road salt in the Winter - making it both economical and environmentally friendly. - Prevents accidents from occurring (which take place as a result of slippery surfaces) - Green walls improve air quality, they balance natural humidity, and allow habitat restoration Sustainability: - Concrete: a long lasting material that is strong and reliable. It is also resistant to natural and man-made disasters and fairly inexpensive. - Steel: Infinitely recyclable, long lasting, and has minimal to almost no impact on the environment. - Pervious Concrete: Similar to conventional concrete, pervious concrete is long lasting and fairly strong. By eliminating the need for retention ponds, swales, and other storm water devices, pervious concrete can lower overall project and operational costs, and allows a more efficient use of its surrounding land. Quality: - By using strong and reliable materials, as well as an efficient plumbing system, the Water Consuming Bridge achieves a higher quality than the bridges that are currently present in Canada.
