I’ve always been intrigued by the unique motion mechanism designed by Theo Jansen, so I went online to learn more about how it works and how it’s constructed. After seeing several designs, I was excited to discover that my linkage simulation software already included a model of one leg—with dimensions! That moment sparked an idea: why not try to recreate it in 3D? I scaled the dimensions, started modeling, and soon realized just how challenging it really is. But that’s part of the fun! Materials Used: Aluminum tubing 3D-printed parts The 3D-printed components were essential for replicating the complex motion of the mechanism accurately.
