The idea behind this piece is to replace the turn signal switch so that users can always have both hands on the wheel while driving. The idea for this design first came to me when I realized I had trouble locating my window wipers and other features on the turn signal switch, especially when I first started driving. In order to turn on these devices I would have to take my left hand off the wheel and look away from the road for a brief moment to find and turn on these features. With this new design brights, window wipers, and the quick wash feature for window wiper fluid are all in a more convenient place so the driver does not have to take their eyes off of the road to turn on their wipers and will always have their left hand fixed with a firm grip on the wheel. The design is suited to fit on to the left hand side of a steering wheel so that handicap users will still be able to use hand controls while using this device. The idea for this design for the future is that hopefully it will replace the turn signal switch entirely by moving it to a more convenient place. This would also open up the left hand side of the wheel to potential compartments where drivers could store their important papers rather than having to store them on the opposite side of the vehicle in the glove box.
