Tutorial: Complex shaped loft in Inventor (Dog Ear Duct Joint) · 模型 247291
The main target of this tiny project is to model a duct joint as close as possible to the attached picture. This was a nice small challenge published in the tutorial section of GrabCad by Lahin Khan. http://grabcad.com/questions/need-help-to-draw-dog-ear-duct-joint-in-inventor However,the real aim of this model is to show that even an arbitrary shape like this can be well controlled through parameters after a proper preparation of skeleton-sketches / profiles. The proposed model uses simple & well structured 2D & 3D projected profiles that are selected to loft this not so ordinary shape. I hope Lahin will get some inspiration from this and eventually will give an even more accurate result. Problems occurred through this design process does not allow this model to have a rectangular shape but only a square one. The reason behind this is that the loft is losing its symmetry to the corners. Therefore an alternative way as you can see from attached pictures is that you can isolate the shape of interest (quarter of model) and rebuilt the frame accordingly... (you can just drag the "End of part" to the end of the features tree to check the results) I could have just blame Inventor for this issue ;P but in order to be more objective this error of anti-symmetry from loft may be eliminated with a different way of design... which I might not be aware... Enjoy the design process, any comment / suggestions are always welcome. P.S. The i-part is to give a brief validation of various dimensions that the model can take ...be aware that there are always limits for this values... Regards Ioannis
