A concept design for an electric, seatless unicycle which I did, years ago, for a contest on Freelancer.com. Unfortunately for me, my entry did not win. I touched it up and improved it some before uploading as I wasn't happy with what I'd managed to get done back in the day, in the rush to meet the contest deadline. The rider sits on pedals which swing out laterally, from the sides of the body. To get a pedal to swing out, as both normally hang down vertically, you step on the blue swing rods which connect it to the body of the monocycle to force these down. And as they swivel downwards, they swing the pedal upwards until it is horizontal. At which point you just shift your foot over to the pedal itself, which cannot swing back down to its vertical position while your weight is on it. The pedals can double as supports keeping the unicycle's wheel clear off the ground when not in use. Also when not in use, a circular cover swivels down 180 degrees from the body of the monocycle to cover up the part of the wheel which is partially exposed underneath the unicycle's body, preventing mud, water or debris accrued during from dripping off the wheel and dirtying the floor, carpet or rug the monocycle might be placed on. The design also incorporates two small metal skids underneath the body, one towards the front and the other towards the back. These have a limited degree of rotational freedom of movement in the unicycle's longitudinal plane. The skids can also double as loops for running a strap through to use as handle for carrying the monocycle when not in use. When riding the unicycle, these would be the only parts to actually contact the ground in the event of the rider losing balance and tilting the unicycle either too much towards the front or towards the back. A headlight and stop light are included as well. The side vents can facilitate ventilation of the electric motor, which would be incorporated into the hub of the wheel.
