Ventilate the air from your desktop CNC enclosure through an inexpensive, retail-purchasable HEPA filter from iRobot Corporation. This assembly uses the iRobot 800 & 900 Series replaceable HEPA filter cartridge (purchaseable from them) and requires an EBM Pabst RLF35 Fan, which is available in a variety of voltage configurations from distributors such as Mouser, RS, Amazon, etc. You will need to provide a power supply suitable for the fan (be sure that it provides both correct fan voltage and adequate amperage). The device was designed for use with a PROVER-3018 Desktop CNC from SAINSMART, and is installed on the back of their accessory enclosure for this machine. The exhaust system displaces the volumetric flow from the input air from our accessory air-cooler for the cutting tool and reduces the amount of dust inside the enclosure. I will update this with a video showing the installation and provide a simple pattern and location for the required port and mounting holes through the enclosure wall. This system will work for a wide variety of other machine applications, with user adaptations. DISCLAIMER: The marketing claim of "HEPA" is a multi-agency directed indication about percentage of particle size removed from an air volume. HEPA is an acronym meaning: High Efficiency Particulate Air filter. Please review these directives at ISO, ASME, etc. The term "HEPA" arises here, from the marketing labeling of the iRobot filter. The HEPA filter, and the positive airflow direction, should trap particles of a size that would remain floating in the enclosure and room air. This filter has been chosen for this system for its functional performance attributes (removing some of the particles from the air volume of the enclosure that would create wear on the sliding and rotating components of the machine system and otherwise accumulate on internal enclosure surfaces). Please note that I cannot guarantee anything about the performance of the system, since I cannot know anything about the design and installation of your enclosure system. I also know nothing about the actual performance of the iRobot HEPA filter in this application. This is freeware, so I neither assert nor provide any guarantees for any interpreted performance or health claims. Additionally, if you wish to use this system in a resin printing or FDM printing application, I cannot be held responsible for any perceptions or opinions about reducing or eliminating chemical vapors.
