We are building a different kind of vehicle. We need a vehicle here capable of lifting loads—specifically, lifting and setting down loads from both the front and the sides. Pallet size: 800 x 800 mm. For the construction of the two-part chassis, we are using four in-house designed wheel-hub motors. We are also utilizing our proven "Inline-Boxer-Linear" engine—combined into a single assembly we call the "Motor-Pack." We are building a telescoping, four-stage vertical lifting mechanism that creates a folding forklift assembly out of two adjustable, hinged fork tines. And we are using the connecting axle as a pivot point to rotate the folding forklift assembly by 90 degrees. We intend to control almost everything hydraulically. Furthermore, we believe that today's forklifts are devices with limited functionality—simply too inflexible and far too expensive. I saw a vehicle like this—similar to the one shown here—at a trade fair back around 1986; it was an agricultural show in Berlin called "Grüne Woche" (Green Week). Back then, no one was interested in that kind of vehicle. That’s hardly surprising—farmers, as we know, drive tractors, which are admittedly very, very expensive. The vehicle back then was offered with an internal combustion engine for 3,200 Deutsche Marks! We want to match that price point—so we’re attempting to build our own version that meets our requirements! Unfortunately, all the companies that used to offer hydraulic components have disappeared over the intervening decades. That means we have to manufacture the necessary parts ourselves—including the hydraulic hoses and seals—because there is a risk that even the last remaining stock will vanish from the market.
