In many people’s productivity setup, laptop wires dangle off the far edge of the workbench due to the outlet being behind the table. Sometimes, if the wire is plugged out, it may fall back behind the table, forcing one to either reach down or crawl underneath the table to retrieve it. This is especially common with wires that are long, as the extra weight pulls the end of the wire down easier. Although this may only be a nuisance, one (such as myself) could also occasionally bump their head with the underside of the table when crawling underneath it to pick up the wire, leading to headaches and, in especially rare cases, concussions. The problem with using zip ties or traditional wire fasteners is that they are only meant for single use. If one has a single laptop charger, they would have to repeatedly plug it out, rendering traditional wire fasteners void and requiring a replacement of the zip tie each time. The Wire Fastener 2.0 solves this problem because it comes apart in two pieces, allowing the wire to be removed while the the main part of the fastener remains attached to the table. The Wire Fastener 2.0, like a zip tie, is attached to the table with double-sided tape. Due to certain tables having a raised board covering the back, the Temporary Wire Fastener has a protrusion on the bottom from which it can stick to the side of the table’s backboard. If the edge of the table is flat, this protrusion can be easily snapped off due to its small thickness.
