Here, we present a prototype for implementing a recipe to produce a "Wurst im Schlafrock" (sausage in a bathrobe)—as it is known in Germany. We are working with two types of sausage: a hot-smoked salami-style sausage (as originally intended) and a cooked sausage—both featuring identical dimensions! We use a machine to cut each sausage in half lengthwise and place each half onto a pre-cut rectangular sheet of raw puff pastry. We then place a second, equally sized sheet of puff pastry on top, and use a brass molding head to shape the "Wurst im Schlafrock." The entire assembly is then baked. From a process engineering perspective, our objective is to determine exactly how to manufacture the sausage and how to subsequently encase it in the puff pastry. The entire operation is designed to be executed by our automated food dispensing machine—meaning it is fully automated! Finally, after baking, we package the "Wurst im Schlafrock" and dispense the finished meal. STEP, IGS, STL, JPG
