Bonjour from Bordeaux France ! Here is my design of X 30S runabout wood Structural Framing Finite Elements simulation The wood boat is 9 meters LOA The slamming load on bottom was set as 200000 N The structural framing is set as Mahogany wood and the simulation result validates the framing does not break. Total structure displacement 2mm Structural framing weight is 380 kg. The red color of the Von Mises Stress is here in this animation enhanced in order to better visualise. Today the structural design and structural simulation with computer FEA software is already current practice and therefore the optimisation of wooden boat weight I am quite proud to have introduced this particular procedure to the Royal National Lifeboat Institute UK department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering in 2015. The X30 S runabout design has been created during more than 10 years. The 3D mesh model is the first sketch model I created in Hong Kong
