3D MODELING AND PRINTING PROJECT -3D PRINTED SHREDDER MACHINE- Pătrânjel David-George, FMI, grupa 151 INTRODUCITON For my final 3D Modeling and Printing project, I chose to make a 3D Printed Shredder Machine. The inspiration behind my project lies in the chart-topping YouTube videos about real life powerful shredding machines. My model is based on the model found on Printables and made by the original creator transformator2020. DESCRIPTION OF THE MODEL My 3D Printed Shredder Machine is meant to shred objects by using two shredders activated by two gears and a crank, one moving clockwise and the other counterclockwise, pushing the objects to the middle. Unlike the YouTube videos, my model is not meant to shred massive objects, but smaller objects, its role being to demonstrate the mechanism behind a real industrial shredder machine The model was designed by keeping in mind the 3D Printing aspect of the mechanism. Thus, the compact size of the model (116x120x152(mm)) allows for a quick and easy printing of the mechanism. The model was also built with some elements that allow for a simpler assembly of the model. The only parts of the model without assembly elements are the stand of the model and the gears. These elements need to be glued down before using the model. As for the printing material, I believe that PLA would be the best choice because of its proprieties: rigidity, strength, biodegradability, odorless, cheapness. Other materials I had in mind were ABS (although it is a durable material, the printing process would be a difficult one because the material requires ventilation) or maybe a material that has elements of metal. COMPONENTS AND JOINTS. The components of my model are: Stand Main body (with a bottom and a top part) Basket Two shredders Two gears Crank The concept behind the mechanism is that by rotating the crank counterclockwise, the two gears will activate and start rotating in opposite directions, therefore making the shredders rotate. To make the mechanism work, I used a rigid joint between the following components: left gear – left shredder, right gear – right shredder, crank – right shredder. Also, there are two revolute joints, one for each shredder. These two joints are linked via a motion link. Therefore, by activating the right revolute joint and rotating the right shredder counterclockwise, the other joints are activated and we are able to mimic the mechanism’s shredding motion. The mo...
