Bitterroot Guitars Two Way Truss Rod · 模型 44124

作者:Kamran Saeed

These are solid models in STEP and IGES formats of Bitterroot Guitars’ Two Way Truss Rods in 15-1/4", 16-3/4" and 18-1/8" lengths, model numbers 081205, 081206 and 081209 respectively. These models were constructed using direct modeling in the days before I started using Autodesk Fusion 360, and while these models are geometrically and dimensionally accurate (see "Caveat" below), they are not parametric. After I imported these designs into Fusion 360, other than applying some textures, I did not feel the need to reconstruct them as I had the sizes I needed for my project. This is also why there are three sets of design files in the download package. Caveat: I started the underlying sketch for my solid model based on the schematics made available by Bitterroot Guitars on their website, which I have also included in the download package. In the schematic diagram, you will note that there is a narrower flange behind the adjustment nut to which the front end of the fixed bar is welded with no gap showing between the two. While the diameter of this flange is not provided, it does appear to be larger than that of the flex rod. The tail end of the bar is attached to the tail end of the flex rod – also with no gap showing. Since the diameter of the flex rod is smaller than that of the flange to which the fixed bar is attached, it implies that the fixed bar and the flex rod are not quite parallel to each other, and indeed the diagram in the schematic seems to show exactly that if you zoom in. This is obviously not ideal for a proper fit in a guitar neck. I ordered and received the 18" truss rod which is actually 18-1/8" long. I took caliper measurements off of the physical truss rod including that of the important attachment flange which I then applied to my sketch. More importantly, I found that the fixed bar and the flex rod were indeed parallel to each other, which is what you would want in a truss rod. This was achieved by a thicker weld between the bar and rod at the tail end; in other words, there *is* a gap between the two along their lengths except where the fixed bar is in contact with the flange, though I could not visually verify this since the entire length of the truss rod behind the nut is obscured by the shrink wrap. While this puts my solid model slightly at odds with the schematic, it does conform more closely to the actual physical truss rod. I felt it necessary to include this somewhat long-winded explanation here.
