The release mechanism is held in place by a torsion spring. When the plates are closed, the mechanism shown, due to the pressure of the tappet, counteracts the spring and turns the closing ring. When the ring is turned, the lock cylinder is pressed out by the protrusion on the ring. The rod is released and the next plate is released accordingly.
