It consists of a shell-and-tube heat exchanger with a simple, monolithic construction optimized for direct laser sintering manufacturing using T164GD.23 AMPO material suitable for cryogenic use. Its main innovation lies in the helical interior baffles of the shell, which produce a flow that circulates throughout the entire volume around the tubes, unlike typical shell-and-tube heat exchangers that have dead flow zones. This makes it ideal for operation as a temperature regenerator for cryogenic cooling gas with very low pressure drop.
