Based on the CFD simulation results at a 45° elbow, the two-phase flow distribution of water and air shows phase separation which is influenced by gravity and changes in flow direction. In the Volume Fraction of Air contour, air is seen to be concentrated at the top of the channel with a fraction value close to 1, while water dominates the bottom of the channel with an air fraction value close to 0. In the 45° bend area, a transition zone occurs which shows temporary interaction and mixing between the two fluids due to changes in flow geometry. Meanwhile, in the Mass Fraction of Water contour, water has the highest mass fraction in almost all parts of the channel, but decreases at the top and outlet area due to air accumulation. The results of this simulation show that the 45° elbow is capable of flowing fluid well without significant flow disturbances, but changes in flow direction cause phase redistribution so that a stratified flow pattern is formed, where water flows predominantly at the bottom of the channel and air collects at the top after passing through the bend.
