The F8V91/1 ( Meaning Formula 8 cylinders, V at 90° with 1/1 as a ranking / revision) is an unrestricted Formula One 2.4 liters V8, designed in the continuation of the F10V90. This engine wasn’t built with the 2006 regulation in mind but as stated before, what could have been a 2006 V8 without the various restrictions like the weight or COG (center of gravity) position. In terms of design, it borrows massively from the RE808E and the CA V8. Some details came also from the other engine manufacturer of the time. This engine has taken around six months to have its core design, but I have decided to do a major revision hence the /1 at the end. Eventually it has been two years of work with the documentation gathering, preparation work and redesign work. Now we are looking at a 71 kg engine in the FIA weight definition and a 79 kg weight in the Engine In Car (E.I.C) configuration. The COG is about 151 mm FIA & EIC. In terms of dimensions, the engine is, of course, shorter than the V10 but it's about the same width and height, with an almost identical COG, which when you consider the difference in head design is, for me, a success. Right now, and still working on this design with the /2. There is also the fact that I have a full gearbox/transmission in design for this with a final aim for a full mechanism of the F1 car of 2007. Those elements have made me hesitate in posting this. You will find some display step in the gallery. You should download the file name export. Beware the file is heavy and you will need a good pc to open the files. The autosport connectors are coming from the TE connectivity catalog, The fuel connector is coming from Holmbury (find on traceparts). The pump 3D model has been given to me by someone, who want to stay anonym. The sensors have been made with manufacturer's drawings. The sensor manufacturer are Magnetti, Texense, Eurosensor & Omega ltd. The moog valve has been found online, on Linh Nguyen grabcad page. The alternator is base on a McLaren aplied drawing.
