Engineering analysis of the molded plastic connector cavity and the cast urethane connector brick shows that these components have significant flexibility, and the deflections resulting from 3 bar pressure loading that must be addressed by a successful pressure sealing and fixation system. The proposed patent pending solution incorporates interlocking lips between the cavity and the brick to control lateral spreading of the cavity walls, and a flexible steel beam seal clamp that preloads the connector assembly to withstand the internal pressure load while accommodating the cavity and brick deflections. The seal clamp is manufactured with a specified beam curvature such that it provides uniform loading to the connector assembly when it is fixed to the cavity by one screw at each end. Two screw fixation provides reliability and quick assembly and disassembly. The brick flange is revised to accept a standard O-ring elastomer seal between the cavity interior and the brick flange O-ring.
