Lab-scale model of a concentrating solar power (CSP) plant. This configuration uses fluidized particles as the working heat transfer medium, as opposed to the molten salts used in conventional CSP systems. Designed and constructed at the Advanced Materials and Technologies Lab (AMTL) in Blacksburg, VA. Extruded aluminum frame allows multiple absorber tube lengths to be explored. Dispenser and collecter sub-assemblies feature interchangeable adapters to explore multiple tube diameters. Intended for research regarding internal geometries for optimal heat absorber performance.
