"Fresh as a Daisy" Necklace Pendant · 模型 20502
Bergen County Academies, Mr. DeFalco In a society rife with unexpected happenings such as the results of the Brexit referendum and of the U.S. Presidential Election, uncertainty has become widespread. Doubt about what the future entails is now more prevalent than ever. There exists a lack of trust globally and rising tensions have spurred numerous protests and violence. My design, a pendant for a necklace, consists of a simplified daisy. This daisy, which is a Old English for a “day’s eyes,” symbolizes new beginnings, and with this design I hope to address how the world is definitely changing, perhaps in ways we haven’t seen before, but growing nevertheless. However, we don’t have to lie under a veil of fear because we are unsure about what the next day will bring. My design serves as a reminder that we shouldn’t be afraid of change even though in our post-truth era it is hard to differentiate between what’s true and what’s not. We should adapt to our temperamental environment with the readiness to face any obstacle that comes our way, and I think that the daisy is representative of this as it signifies hope and continued growth despite harsh adversity. I hope that the minimalistic yet elegant design reminds the wearer that at a time where anything and everything is possible, it is only right to take control and own one’s future and acknowledge that in less than optimal situations, it is better to stay positive and look forward to what comes next.
