I was going through my gallery and found a photo from my early engineering days. Back then, we were assigned to build a simple prototype using transistors. My team decided to create a smart burglar alarm for accessory cases. We had almost no budget, limited components and very basic tools So we built that simple cartoon prototype (third image) 😄, pretty rough, but it worked after many trials. At that time, the goal wasn’t quality, it was learning, and honestly, that experience was invaluable. Fast forward to a week ago, I revisited the same idea. However this time, I generated the CAD design, circuit design, and BOM in one sitting. What took us weeks back then, now takes minutes. But here’s the important part: If I hadn’t gone through that messy, low-quality college prototype, I wouldn’t be able to build this version now. Takeaway: Every stage has its purpose. Don’t rush to “perfect”. Don’t compare your progress to others, they might just be at a different stage. Would love to hear, what was your first prototype like?
