Kawasaki KLR650, 15/43 · 520 chain. The KLR650's stock gearing on 520 chain: a 43T steel rear with six broad spokes and big rounded windows, on Kawasaki's 520 street pattern (6 × 10,5 mm on 104, 80 mm centre). Look: styled after the JT Sprockets JTR487 steel rear (six long windows between the six bolts). Only the look is borrowed; this is a new design, not a copy of that maker's part. Parts - Front: 15T 520 countershaft sprocket, involute spline (m 1 × 20, a sample, not the bike's), nut held. - Rear: 43T 520 rear, 6 × 10,5 mm on 104 (bolt pattern approximate). Strength (an estimate) - Load: 265 N·m: 51,5 N·m × 2,273 primary × 2,267 1st (Kawasaki spec sheet). - Front: 120 MPa peak · SF 3,46 in 4140 steel · rim moves 0,05 mm · 5,94 mm plate · 69 % solid. - Rear: 135 MPa peak · SF 2,30 in 1045 steel · rim moves 0,11 mm · 5,94 mm plate · 49 % solid. - Plane-stress FEM of each plate: the chain pulls on the first three engaged teeth (50/30/20 %), both directions; a rear is held at its bolts, a front at its spline. Before you make one - The front's spline (m 1 x 20 involute) is a sample, not the bike's. Change it to your countershaft's spline. - The bolt pattern and centre hole are approximate. Measure your hub or old sprocket first. - These are design samples, not tested parts.
