KJ-66 turbofan · 模型 184280
This is a project I’ve been working on for a little while: a conversion of the KJ-66 turbojet into a turbofan that could be used in RC aircraft or drone applications. My original goal was to see if this engine could be adapted in a way that kept the build economical—using as many off-the-shelf parts or 3D-printed components as possible. As the design has evolved, I’ve realized that while some sections may require more specialized materials than I first envisioned, the pursuit of a cost-effective, accessible build remains at the heart of this project. One interesting aspect of the turbofan layout is that it opens up the possibility for airstarting, making it a practical platform to experiment with simplified starting methods compared to traditional RC turbojets. This model is based on Saeid Mirshahidi’s KJ-66 design, which you can check out here: https://grabcad.com/library/kj-66-rc-turbojet-engine-1 I’m sharing this work to encourage collaboration and innovation in the community. Feel free to modify the design, explore your own configurations, or even manufacture it for testing. Whether through 3D-printing, hybrid builds, or low-cost machining, I believe this concept has a lot of potential as an accessible, experimental turbofan platform for hobbyists and drone developers alike.
