A mecanum wheel is a typical wheel with several rollers attached to its circumference, with the rollers' axes of rotation at an angle of 45 degrees to the wheel's plane and parallel to the wheel's axis of rotation. The sum of all these forces, which depends on the direction and speed of each individual wheel, produces a total force vector in any desired direction, allowing the platform to move freely in that direction without modifying the wheels themselves. It is ideal for small spaces. Here is SolidWorks model of a mecanum wheel made by me.
