NASA REGOLITH - Anket Vispute, Vighnesh Raman · 模型 213343
We went though the design of the current NASA RASSOR bot's drum and brainstormed on how to improve it? The design that we have come up with for the NASA RASSOR aims to achieve maximum fill ration as possible. This is possible due to the hinged flaps in the rear side of each of the entrances which ensures that none of the collected regolith escapes after 50% of the drum is filled. The hinges move due to gravity and centrifugal force hence when the drum is collecting the regolith the hinge is closed to ensure none of the pre-collected regolith falls off. when the drum turns the flap moves to a more stable position opening up the entrance allowing the collected regolith to enter the drum. To remove the collected regolith at the end point. The drum is rotated to keep the hinge with the actuator above and the hinge is opened up. So when the drum rotates next the hinge will not close hence allowing the regolith to exit from the spoute. This design is better than the others as if inhabits the collected regolith to fall out of the drum without our discretion Working animation https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=M9kF95Zx78M working of flap- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_6aZuJD1ZQ
