Printable Bioreactor · 模型 203885
Entry for NASA challenge for 3D printable Bioreactor. I have included translucent renders to showcase internal structure. Project consists of 3 parts: 1. Base - contains 2 Luer locks and a big maintenance port with cap retainers 2. Membrane holder - lock-in cap that covers maintenance port and houses a gas permeable membrane 3. Bioreactor chamber - printable chamber that requires no internal support Material chosen for this project is Polypropylene. It is printable, can be sterilised in autoclave and is considered food safe by FDA. It is also inert in pH and temperature ranges specified in the challenge. With proper additives PP can be tailored to have good gas permeability so the membrane itself could be printed as well. If not possible/feasible, membranes (PDMS, FEP, whichever membrane fits the requirements) can be manufactured on Earth and shipped along with raw PP stock for further assembly. Manufacturing and assembly: 0. All parts were designed the way they should print support-free, apart from membrane holder that might need a rim support depending on assembly method 1. Print the Base 2. Flip Base and set it up in a jig 3. Print container on top of the Base so they become one part 4. Print membrane holder 4a. Optional - attach membrane if membrane printing is not feasible 4b. Optional - Print membrane holder as a non-permeable cap and use one of luer locks to attach a gas filter Whole assembly is designed to be reusable, sterilizable and 3D printed. Base corners can be used as attachment points to hold the reactor in a bigger frame. If needed, chamber can be cut away from base and new chamber can be printed on old base (for smaller/bigger capacity etc.).
